Drive System
- The mill drive is affected by a slip ring induction motor through a reduction gearbox and a pinion with girth gear arrangement.
- Girth gear is mounted on shell flange along with discharge end cover flange at discharge end of mill.
- The pinion is made of forged steel and mounted on a counter shaft supported on self-lubricated bearings.
- An auxiliary drive is provided to facilitate slow rotation of the mill for initial starting or during maintenance work to position the mill at desired position.
